server keeps going offline

Post by Crosshairs »

Hello, we're having an issue with one of our game servers. Every night
without fail, 1 of our game servers keeps going offline and has to be
manually restarted every morning before i leave for work. Why would this
happen? We currently only have 2 mohaa game servers and 1 teamspeak3 server
running on our 2-core server. The other server never goes down and we have no
issues with our ts3 failing us either. Just the one of two game servers. I sent in a ticket for this and support has no answers, so im hoping someone on here might be able to offer some help?

We would not be able to help with this through our request system since it is a question about your VDS software configuration. Asking here was the right thing to do.

The main possibilities here are that you have a bug in a mod running on your server, a configuration mistake with it, or you are being hit with an attack that exploits a bug in the game itself.

Are your two game servers configured identically, and do they see about the same player loads?

No, the one that consistantly goes offline gets far more traffic than the other one. The mods are almost identical with the exception of 1 weapons mod.

is there a way to check server logs to see who was on the server last before it keeps going offline?

Since it gets so much more traffic, that means it could be any number of things, unfortunately. But, you might try it first without that mod, and then go from there in removing other mods to see if it ultimately stops crashing.

The logs for this game aren't very good, but you should be able to find them in the folder of the mod.

This is getting very frustrating as we can't figure this out and are getting little to no support here on a resolution.

Would someone be able to remote in on my computer and sort this stuff out? We've enlisted help with another clan to help us on this and they are stumped too :/

I think a good first step as John listed above would be a good one. Did you attempt to remove the mod?
@Kraze^NFo> Juski has a very valid point
@Juski> Got my new signature, thanks!
@Kraze^NFo> Out of context!
@Juski> Doesn't matter!
@Juski> You said I had a valid point! You can't take it back now! It's out there!

Keep in mind that while we do our best to answer questions and suggest troubleshooting steps here in the forum, you are fundamentally in charge of the software on an unmanaged machine, and we can't actually take the steps for you or provide direct support through our request system. If you'd like to switch to a managed configuration, that will allow us to see more of what's going on and do more for you.

We talk more about what "unmanaged" means on the order page and in these KB articles: http://www.nfoservers.com/forums/viewto ... =47&t=3810 and http://www.nfoservers.com/forums/viewto ... =51&t=4559.
