May lose a donator to NFO

I rent a 3 core VPS as some of you know. I run a few KF and L4D2 servers on it.

Will someone who donates to help pay the bills and admins one of my KF servers is looking for there own. I'm not sure if he looking to rent a few servers of me or if he looking to rent a VPS off NFO as he asked me for the VPS prices.

Now my VPS is out of memory but I could always add more memory if available. My CPU usage is around 11% - 15% when servers are full. There are 8 servers all together.

But if he wants a VPS and not a few servers from me, for cost of upgrading. How would I get credited for bringing a new customer to NFO ?

Don't get me wrong, I highly recommend NFO but if he moves over here then I'm losing a donator, which is helping pay the bills here.

When a user signs up if you have them enter the identifier for the server you want to receive the credit in the referrer tab, a new referral credit will be shown on the page for that server.

Elochai, we don't currently have a rewards/affiliate program for VDSes. I've been planning an overall program for some time but have still not yet had time to do it.

Right now I'm waiting to see what he wants to do, if he wants a few KF servers then I will see if he wants to pay me a lower fee and I will just let him have a few of mine and may use the money to upgrade my VDS to keep everything running nicely.

With my 8 servers on my VDS full, is CPU usage at almost 15% good or bad if I upgraded my ram to another GB and added two more servers ? I'm thinking CPU could jump to 20% or 22%.

It be under 50% so it shouldnt be laggy.

15% would be good as an overall number. That would only mean problems if a server were using an entire core.

Sounds like I be better off going up to 4 cores then just upping my ram.

How would I know on a manage system if my KF and L4D2 servers are using a full core or sharing ?

On a managed system, it's not really possible to tell for KF. For L4D2, you can set sv_stats 1 and then look in the CPU usage column of the "rcon stats" output.

Well I worked something out with him. He doesn't want to setup the game servers. He would like me to do all the settings, mods, and stuff. He just wants rcon powers / web admin and 2 KF servers.

I will be setting it up when I get up.

If I did upgrade from 3 to 4 cores, can I downgrade if CPU usage doesn't improve ?, or am I better of just adding another GB of ram for now and seeing how everything handles ?

You can downgrade at any time, but since the system can't grant credits, it's best to do it right near the end of your paid month. That's also a good time to upgrade, since you'll be charged only a prorated amount and can experiment for very little cost.
