Ubuntu 12.04 LTS RAM Max of 3697MB?
I seem to have hit a limit of 3697MB ram on my Ubuntu (x64) VDS
I was told by support on nfo that his is a software error, and since this is the default software for nfo, I ask here, hoping someone else might have had to deal with this also?
Is there an easy fix for this somewhere? google doesnt say anything about this. (3697mb ubuntu ram)

That is not something I've ever heard happen before. It could be a bug in the Xen implementation in their default kernel, though. Are you running the very latest kernel and other system utilities?

Re: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS RAM Max of 3697MB?
For some reason I cant edit my posts so I guess just replying will have to tell everyone I found the answer to this 'question.'
http://askubuntu.com/questions/94347/ub ... ntu-64-bit
one less thing I have to worry about fixing.
http://askubuntu.com/questions/94347/ub ... ntu-64-bit
Code: Select all
root@esclanweb:~# dmesg |grep "Memory: "
[ 0.000000] Memory: 4030888k/4456448k available (6555k kernel code, 262600k absent, 162960k reserved, 6645k data, 920k init)
Re: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS RAM Max of 3697MB?
It's odd that it shows memory as "reserved" and "absent", still. I will try to take a closer look at what's going on in the near future.

Re: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS RAM Max of 3697MB?
I updated my server today (because I only had 300mb remaining)
I installed via the OS install feature in the panel and upgrade from there, I dont do anything too fancy in the system, if theres any logs lists permissions or anything that you might need to better troubleshoot this let me know.

Re: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS RAM Max of 3697MB?
Did you have 300 MB "free"? If so, you may not have needed to upgrade. The number you need to look at is also in the "free" column, but under "+/- buffers/cache".

The only new info I have is that this can be seen more as a 'linux absent memory issue'paulg1981 wrote:Any news on this, just realized the same thing is happening on my 4-core?

Hmm, that is a bummer I always had to give up memory but I really like having the most current LTS....decisions decisions. Thank for the update
