vds running dayz mod
hi
Question for anybody, i have vds with 7 ips and i use one to log on desktop
1 for teamspeak. The dayz mod is whitelisted under another ip of mine but the problem is the hive which is part of dayz mod only communicates with the main ip of the box which i do not want to use.
can i make one of my ips into another main ip so that it can communicate with the hive for dayz
thx in advnce

Re: vds running dayz mod
Hive should communicate with whatever ip you gave the dayz staff to whitelist. Do you have your server running on the ip you gave to the dayz staff

Re: vds running dayz mod
hi
Yes the server ip is whitelisted for the ip. but they are telling me on a vds or dedicated that the hive which is their database link to the dayz mod will only listen to the main ip of the vds or ded.
the server runs fine and people can connect to the lobby but when it trys to communicate with the player and the hive for actaul spwning in to play, there is a communication error and the player is told server is running the wrong version snd thus their techs saying main ip only but there must be another way
thx in advance for help

Re: vds running dayz mod
That is something I have never heard of and I believe they are mistaken. Do you have that IP properly added to your VDS network adapter?

Re: vds running dayz mod
hi
I think i do, i also have the inbound and outbound ports open for the game.
its been over a week since i first got the whitelist and instance id from them but their support is sporatic and vague.
i have run several game types and mods and have never had an issue like this.
i have literally read hundreds of posts and forums, i have only come across 1 post about this main ip problem and since then i have not see it again but their techs say it exists. as there database has to communicate with the hive so that players can go from server without losing their what they have completed or aquired as per weapons and such.
lost
thx again in advance for the help

Re: vds running dayz mod
Are you running a firewall on your VDS? If so try disabling it to see if it allows the connection to work. I have been looking around and I am not seeing anything on this.

Re: vds running dayz mod
What command line are you using for the server?
Re: vds running dayz mod
hi
i disabled firewall still no difference
as for command line ths is it here
Expansion\beta\arma2oaserver.exe -mod=EXPANSION\beta;EXPANSION\beta\Expansion;EXPANSION;ca;@dayz;@hive -ip=66.150.121.18 -port=2302 -profiles=cfgdayz -config=cfgdayz\server_wolfin11.cfg -cfg=cfgdayz\arma2.cfg -name=LocationID -world=Chernarus -cpuCount=1 -exThreads=1 -noSound
i use this in a batch file
this is the command line they sent me to use.
also i am to use this package for the mod:
2008 Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Packages x86
i tried allowing the firewall to communiate with hive folder but there is no .exe for that.
its been 3 days for their trouble ticket with no reply from them.
thx again in advance

Re: vds running dayz mod
That looks right, at least in terms of the IP part.
To make the IP into the primary for the adapter, try logging in through VNC and deleting all IPs from the adapter, closing that adapter window, and then re-opening it and adding them back in, with the one you want to be the new primary listed first. That may work, though I'm not certain of it.

Re: vds running dayz mod
hi
well i have got nothing to work to allow the hive to communicate,
so if anything can i get some info on questions
i have to install vc++ redistributable package x86
i have installed it
the question is on how do i allow the the hive folder to communicate with their database the hive folder has a dayz_server file named pbo and obvioulsy it is what sets the conditions for it to communicate
as there is no exe but only a .dll file i cannot use firewall to allow it.
am i missing something here and if what. can you help me
i have allowed the armaao.dedicatedserver.exe both inbound and outbound
like i said above i have turned off firewall totally with still no communication so am i missing something or what?
thx in advance for help

Re: vds running dayz mod
If you are running a firewall on your VDS you should turn it off, as it can cause problems exactly like what you are seeing. Turn it off and remove any filters you set up on the "Firewall" tab in your control panel, it should then work.werewolf wrote:hi
