CoD World at War

Post by TacTicToe »

I am trying to get a WaW server running. I'm quite certain everything is installed and setup correctly, but the server will not run more then 1 sec before crashing out. It is updated to the latest version. This is the error I keep getting in the log...
IP specified on command line, setting to: 74.91.112.97:28960
Failed to retreive session create status
Googling it seems it has something to do with specific IP's not being recognized by Activision account servers or something like that. The events log shows me nothing useful. Has anyone else had any issues or success running WaW on a VDS?

This thread deals with it a bit, but no resolution.

We run this on VDSes successfully. Can you provide your full command-line?

+set dedicated 2 +set net_ip 74.91.112.97 +set net_port 28960 +set sv_maxclients "32" +set ui_maxclients "32" +set sv_punkbuster 1 +exec config.cfg +map_rotate

Being executed via FireDaemon. I have run it off a batch file with the same results.

74.91.112.97 is not pingable for me. Are you certain that the IP is bound properly in the OS? Do you have a firewall enabled that is blocking some of the traffic to this IP?

No, I just made a HUGE FUBAR!!!

I upgraded the VDS to 6 core, and in inadvertently changed location to Seattle, when I meant for it to remain in Atlanta. So atm the server is at 7% of its move, will take 6-8 hours to complete, then I have to move it BACK to Atlanta and hope you are able to restore my IPs for me.

Its a huge cluster F-bomb on my part.
