Few questions about CS:GO

Post by gore »

I am interested in purchasing a VPS for 5-6 CS:GO Servers. I will post the exact amount just so you guys can get a better idea of what would be BEST for me.

24 Slot deathmatch
24 Slot surf
10 Slot scrim server
24 slot classic

These are the 4 servers I for sure want to get. Possibly in the future a 40-60 slot zombie server. What's the price range/specs I'd be looking at?

Sincerely,

depends on expected population, honestly the one that says 4-12 servers should be fine... I haven't seen mine run over 40% CPU and I run 4 CS: GO's and a BF3 (32 slot) but I don't get consistent population in all servers. if I did i'd have more accurate input

So lets say I DO have consistent population of 100 people on at once, do you think it would stabilize properly?

I run 2 popular 24 slot CS:GO servers that are full all day.
Also I run a 32 slot CS:S server that is full all day.
And I run 2 32 slot TF2 MvM servers that are full all day
And I run 1 L4D2 server.

With that said I am using 4 core vds + 1GB ram upgrade, even at that I am stretching it because I find myself over 50% cpu usage all day long....
For now I am not seeing any performance dips, but I do see an increased amount of crashes, but that's mainly because TF2 & CS:GO are extremely buggy at this stage.

I'd suggest going with 4 cores no less.

With a VDS, you can also upgrade at any time, so it doesn't hurt to start small and adjust upward if you find that you're hitting a ceiling.

A friend told me that each CS:GO server would be using 1GB of ram , is this true?

Hey, I looked at your servers and it seems that your TF2 servers are running at 6 slots each, not 32.

CS:GO has memory leaks that increase its usage over time, but I haven't seen many servers use that much RAM.

Default vanilla server, no.

With addons maybe, it all depends how up to the date the addons are and how many plugins you are running.

Those are MvM servers, you require 32 slots to run 6 slot MvM.
The server usage/cpu usage and bandwidth is almost the same as 32 slots.

Lets say with the DM mod, quake sounds mod, possibly a colored name or custom skins added too. Would it hold up decently?

gore, I recommend trying it. Every configuration is different and it is difficult for us to guess what yours might require. You can always upgrade later.

^ What he said.

NFo runs great hardware, and fastest in the business, give it a try.
I'd suggest starting off with 3 Core VDS, if it's not enough then I think a 4 Core VDS will get the job done.

You could always chose 3 Core VDS +1 GB ram addon, usually you get a better value if you go core/ram.

You won't be disappointed.

With the 2 day trial, could I get a full refund if I'm not happy? If I can, then I will for sure try it out.

Within those 2 days you will not be charged.
If you don't like it just cancel before your trial is over and you won't be charged.

I ordered a VPS with the managed option, but I don't see CS:GO in the supported games. Any help? (I'm still in the 2 day trial)
