Murmur/Mumble on Managed

Post by FlyingMongoose »

I must apologize if this has been asked before. But I do rent a managed VDS/VPS. And I make use of it in numerous ways, including a BF3 server, 4 CS GO Servers, and even fiddle around with whatever else I feel like running at the time. However I can not add Murmur/Mumble. Now I can understand the need to limit this with Ventrilo and Teamspeak as there are licensing costs involved on a per slot basis with those particular softwares. With Murmur/Mumble however, there is no per-slot licensing (According to their web site). What particularly is the limitation here? Or have the managed servers just not been set up to handle these? I do know Murmur is not heavy on hardware, but it can be hefty on bandwidth. Even if I can't run it there is no emergency. I'm more just being curious.

We're just not set up to handle it. Murmur/mumble servers do not run the same way that game servers do here, and it will be complicated to allow them to work on managed game-server-only VDSes.
