Donations Widget

Post by zeeber85 »

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong section. Mods, feel free to move it if necessary.

Hey all, I recently purchased a minecraft server with NFOServers after extensive research and I believe I found my new home :D

My question is that while I have my donations link up on our forums, is there any way to show how many donations have been received? I am thinking of a solution style similar to Chip In where I can put a widget (or any html code for that matter) that will show our current donations amount as well as a "goal" for this pay period. While I know I can look in the control panel and find out how much has been donated there, I was wondering if there is a way to make this public and set a goal.

I think this would be a great solution for not just my server, but others who rely on donations to keep their servers going.

While I could use Chip In or other 3rd party solutions, they only track payments through paypal, and even then I think you have to click on their specific application to track it. If NFOServers has their own style widget directly linked into the account, say with the donation link that is given to you (e.g. https://www.nfoservers.com/donate.pl?fo ... @gmail.com) that would be great. If anyone knows a way to link it with a 3rd party solution, that would also be helpful.

Thanks to anyone who can assist! It is appreciated!

There's no API / widget available for this right now. I am planning to develop one but have not had opportunity to do so yet. It will be a little complicated because of the security implications (it will need to be opt-in to prevent unauthorized access to customers who don't wish certain details to show, any API will need to have a key/password, and so on).

Thanks for the reply. I guess I will use a 3rd party solution for now, but I look forward to maybe one day having an in-house widget :)

It would definitely be cool to have a monthly cost total, and then a current (monthly) donations total. All I would need is an API that shows just these 2 numbers and I could build a donation system myself for my own web sites.

This way no one really has to disclose any information about who donated what, it would JUST be the numbers.
