Public DNS server on NFO in every data center

Post by alohadns »

Not sure how many of you read about OpenDNS jacking up prices 900%+...

http://www.ghacks.net/2012/02/16/opendn ... e-by-1000/

We had a lot of customers on their service and it would have cost too much for us to pay $1,500 / year per IP to filter DNS.

So we built it ourselves, on NFO. (intially just for us).

Then we thought, why not give it a shot and give it nationally.

Right now it's free, we're aiming for $19.99 / month, but we may not charge depending on if its worth the time or not.

anyways, here are the servers - we are in all the NFO data centers.

If you want to learn more or filter dns - sign up.

Every night you'll get a report on what domains have been accessed from your IP and which have been denied. We also run your accessed log through some categories and make fine tuning suggestions for blocked (ex: if we see malware domains getting hit, we recommend they get added to your blacklist).

IF we can "afford" it... we will wouldn't be charging for NFO IP Space. We like this place and consider it family, so anyone else on the network will hopefully be able to filter and get reports no charge.

@Kraze^NFo> Juski has a very valid point
@Juski> Got my new signature, thanks!
@Kraze^NFo> Out of context!
@Juski> Doesn't matter!
@Juski> You said I had a valid point! You can't take it back now! It's out there!
