Firewall Settings

Post by .=QUACK=.Major.Pain »

On a dedicated windows 2008 server, is it best to have firewall on or off?
If on, do exceptions need to be made so that people are able to join gameservers?

I've found it is better to keep the firewall off unless you have a specific reason to enable. Many peole enable it thinking it's going to protect them but in most cases it just blocks legitimate players and causes them trouble.

Your best bet would be to let all traffic through and cross check against any deny/block rules you have.
