Steam Workshop Still Not Working as Intended

Post by Scholar »

I added steam workshop, all of my information is right. It even says my maps are added from this collection. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... =130206945

However, whenever someone joins who does not have the map, it kicks them out. They have to manually go to their workshop and DL it instead of having it automatically added. Also, the server has the lists of the map in downloads, but the bsp files never seem to end up on the server. Workshop is essentially worthless if my people have to go to workshop manually every time they do not have a map. New people won't stand for it, and will just leave. So how do I get Steam to put the files on the server so that my people do not have to leave the server? Or at least, how to get it set up to where it automatically downloads to them from Steam Workshop. Because right now they just get kicked.

In Garrysmod, the workshop support seems to not be complete. I have seen it used for addons, but I don't know if it works properly for maps yet.

Actually I have just checked and it is worse than that, now the lst files do not even show up. The server does not even seem to connect to get the maps in the first place, and I cannot even use admin to switch to a map. It causes the server to just stop. I opened several support requests on this, but the results were not good. So far Steam Workshop has not worked properly once since I ordered the server a few days ago.

Edit: Oh alright, that's uh, fine I guess. Let me know when it is working.

In the short term, I recommend that you upload the maps to your server directly (via the FTP) and use the the Websync feature to make sure that clients can download them through your website. This is an old, tried-and-true method that continues to work.

But there is a huge problem with that. Due to the nature of GM13, some of the authors have not put up bsp files for their maps. This means that I cannot upload the bsp of some of these. What do I do about that?

I suppose I'll attempt to upload the GMA files directly, as this is the format the new GM 13 uses. I will see if it works.

No, that does not work. Now I am stuck with an rtv listing a bunch of maps that no one can properly DL, with no way to get the BSP files because authors assume that servers will work with steam workshop.

I just deleted everything. I suppose I'll fiddle with this more when we've had some reports of the maps downloading correctly. Still, this seems like a shame since some of them are only available through workshop.
