Trying to set up GGC
Hi, I am trying to stream our server to GGC and it says this in the instructions.
FTP Upload
This way needs direct access to the files at your ftp punkbuster folder. (I was told this folder is restricted)
1. Open the pbsv.cfg file from you punkbuster folder of your gameserver. (I don't have this specific file in the drop down box)
2. At the end of the file add the following commands and save the file:
pb_sv_USessionLimit 9
pb_sv_ProtectTag 1 GGC
pb_sv_uconadd 1 85.114.136.131 ggc_85.114.136.131 bf3
pb_sv_uconadd 1 85.114.136.132 ggc_85.114.136.132 bf3
pb_sv_uconadd 1 85.114.136.133 ggc_85.114.136.133 bf3
(Can this be added to the pbsvuser.cfg? Is that the same as pbsv.cfg?)
3. Create a file name pbucon.use with the following content and upload these to the appropriate PB folder up your game server: (Did this already, not really sure what it does though)
www.ggc-stream.net
4. Now start your game server for the changes to take effect. (Did this, server says never streaming)
So I can't see the pbsv.cfg and I do not see any PB folder in the FTP. Little help? lol

Re: Trying to set up GGC
What type of game server is this for? Some server types will not show a "pb" folder in the FTP because we aren't allowed to provide direct access to it, and in that case, you need to edit pbsv.cfg through the control panel. For instance, BC2 and BF3: http://www.nfoservers.com/forums/viewto ... =50&t=4308

Re: Trying to set up GGC
According to Evenbalance, punkbuster files never have to be restricted with any game including BF3. File restrictions put on game server files only are required on the game files themselves. Evenbalance prefers access to punkbuster files for allowing for third party streaming, manual updating of punkbuster itself incase of update failure, and to tweak the .cfg files for better performance, better screenshots, and overall troubleshooting.

Re: Trying to set up GGC
I was talking about via FTP. I can make a new file in the PB directory, then I can access it from the dropdown menu. I played around with it and I believe I did it right, however GGC says I am still not streaming. This is what I did to set it up..=QUACK=.Major.Pain wrote:According to Evenbalance, punkbuster files never have to be restricted with any game including BF3. Instructions from GGC said
I did it and it actually shows the files in my PB folder, however it still says I'm not streaming. I am going to post there as well, but I thought maybe I could get it resolved here as well.1. Open the ingame console with [CTRL] + [^] and type in the following commands:
pb_sv_writecfg pbucon.use
pb_sv_restart
--- Please wait 20 seconds for punkbuster restart ---
pb_sv_USessionLimit 9
pb_sv_ProtectTag 1 GGC
pb_sv_uconadd 1 85.114.136.131 ggc_85.114.136.131 bf3

They might have to check the server your on.
Someone else had issues like this in another post.
They can double check and make sure it's not a similar issue.
Firewall or other security issues.

Re: Trying to set up GGC
Ok, thanks. I posted there with the same info. Hopefully they can get it running.
Re: Trying to set up GGC
ThoobHertz, I linked a KB article that explains how to set up pbsv.cfg.
Pain, we are contractually obligated to restrict most PB files by EA, and their decision is sound, for security reasons. Allowing a client to modify a PB DLL would give them the ability to also change server behavior, to download the server executable, view and edit other files on the system, and so on.

Re: Trying to set up GGC
Well unless EA purchased Evenbalance, they don't own the rights of someone elses product. When I contacted Evenbalance in the past about it, they were the one's that told me that there was no reason to restrict any access.
But your interpretation is different and it's your business, so that's cool.

Re: Trying to set up GGC
Pain, it's not up to us -- we have no choice in the matter. Whether we can offer full FTP access to PB doesn't come down to an interpretation of something EvenBalance said to you in private correspondence, but rather to an unambiguous, well-documented restriction made by EA. EA also has contracts with EvenBalance that determine the nature of their relationship and how it is to be used in their product, and I'm certain this was discussed as part of that; but, even if they weren't, it is perfectly legal for EA to say that we can't use PB in some way.
BC2, BF3, and other ranked games have always been this way, so this is a years-old restriction.
In any case, that's not applicable to ThoobHertz. He just needs to set up pb/pbsv.cfg and pbucon as we describe in the KB, then customize it to match what the GGC guys want. This doesn't require the use of FTP. (EvenBalance even designed it so that it wouldn't.)

Re: Trying to set up GGC
Thanks man. It started working today. I came home from being out and it is streaming. Maybe it just needed time. Thanks though anyway.
