Website set up

Hi guys I'm really really new to setting up a website using a ftp client can someone help me? I used the information that nfoservers have given me in the control panel to log in to filezilla and did all of that stuff but what files do i need to put into the website ftp in order to set it up? Im just trying to set up a simple forums.

I take it you are on a shared plan, what website did you setup?
