Socket

Post by stickz »

recently installed the socket extension on a server with sourcemod. (for use of gameME stats) since then every time i startup the server the whole unmanaged hosting crashes. sometimes if i'm lucky it will crash 24h later.

was thinking it was related to this http://www.nfoservers.com/forums/viewto ... =47&t=7851

using windows server 2012, but the server runs as windows server 2008 R2 for compatibility reasons. (as do alot of other servers downloaded via SteamCMD.) i've already been moved to a new machine so its not that.

the hosting is currently continusly crashing in a big loop after i login... not sure if its related to socket or not... likely the drivers -_- managed to quickly slip into the event viewer, these are spammed.

error
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000051 (0x0000000000000001, 0xfffff8a000121010, 0x00000000d2284d70, 0x00000000000001c0). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 043013-4040-03.

critial
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

error
Audit events have been dropped by the transport. 0

Are you able to login at all? You may try checking Windows error log to see if anything turns up.

Why you are in there you will also want to try and undo any changes you made to see if that helps.
@Kraze^NFo> Juski has a very valid point
@Juski> Got my new signature, thanks!
@Kraze^NFo> Out of context!
@Juski> Doesn't matter!
@Juski> You said I had a valid point! You can't take it back now! It's out there!

Do you know what might be triggering the crash? Is it network or disk activity, for instance? If it's one of those, then we can try contacting the author of GPLPV to see if he thinks his driver might be the culprit. (Our Windows 2012 uses the latest version of the driver.)

just read the event logs, it was infact related to xen, this thread can be closed
Server move
Apr 30 2013 12:28:40 AM PT Your server was moved from machine nyc-hexadec29-7 to nyc-hexadec29-6.
Re: Machine crash
Apr 29 2013 07:23:21 PM PT Your machine showed a degraded array and crashed again after we upgraded Xen and rebooted it earlier. We are working diligently to try to resolve this ASAP and make sure that your data is, and remains, safe. While we do this, your VDS is offline. We will post another update when we have troubleshooted this further.

Update @ 11:01pm EDT: The machine is running again and checking its array now. If you can, we recommend logging into your VDS and backing up irreplaceable files, to be safe.

We believe that this happened because of a Xen bug and that the update will help with it.

Update @ 11:53pm EDT: Partially into the RAID rebuild process, the OS marked one of the three running drives (it was copying to the fourth) as bad, stopping the RAID again. It is possible that this drive actually is bad, but unlikely that the other is, so this is frustrating. We have rebooted again and told it to wait for more errors before stopping the RAID the next time, and we continue to monitor the situation carefully.

We continue to recommend backing up critical files, to be safe. With crashes occurring, there is always the possibility of data loss.

Update @ 12:21am EDT: After another crash, we're proceeding with another RAID recovery off-line. This may take up to three hours. If it fails, we will start copying customers off of this machine entirely; if it succeeds, we will bring the machine back up and run further diagnostics on it to determine which of the drives needs to actually be replaced.

Update @ 3:54am EDT: The RAID rebuild didn't complete successfully, so we have moved all VDSes on this machine to other machines in NYC, with the exception of one. That single server seems to contain the bad sectors that trigger the crashing behavior, and we will be investigating it in more depth.

Those events were posted before you made your post here, but could be related if they led to disk corruption. Did you re-image the server after everything was fixed with the hardware?

That's good to hear. I hope that it's smooth sailing from here, but please don't hesitate to contact us directly through the Help! page in your control panel if you notice another problem that might be bandwidth or infrastructure related.
