Setting up DayZ
Hey there! I'm the owner of www.recursion-gaming.co.uk and I'm looking for someones help and advice on setting up a DayZ server.
Here's what I have!
Three core: Perfect for 3-9 game servers or many sites.
Three full, dedicated HT CPU cores (Nehalem or better)
3072 MB of RAM
300 GB of RAID-protected storage
3000 GB of InterNAP bandwidth transfer
Un-Managed VDS running Windows Server 2008 R2
Just any information on how to install ArmA 2 / ArmA 2 OA / DayZ and set it all up would be cool!
Thanks!

Re: Setting up DayZ
DayZ can take a little time, there are quite a few steps involved. First thing you should do is request an instance ID from the DayZ developers. They have to approve all servers before you can host them. You can do that here: https://support.dayzmod.com/cart.php?a=confproduct&i=1
While you wait for them to get back to you, download the Arma2 and Arma 2 OA files onto your server.
Once the dev team from DayZ approves your server, they will send you an email with detailed instructions about getting everything setup.

Re: Setting up DayZ
You can download the files via Steam on your server. Just install Steam and download the normal game files.
For those fields I would put:
Processor: 3-Core Gaming VDS
Processor Speed: 2.0GHz+
Processor Manufacturer: Intel
Network Port Speed Upload (mbps): 1000mbps
Network Port Speed Download (mbps): 1000mbps

Re: Setting up DayZ
Here's what I've done.
1. Installed Steam
2. Installed ArmA 2 and ArmA 2 OA
3. Put ArmA 2 Addons in ArmA 2 OA directory
4. Installed the latest beta patch from official website
What do I do now? I need step by step instructions if someone could take the time to do that, that'd be great!

Re: Setting up DayZ
For starters, are you looking to use the official hive, or your own private hive?
If your looking for official hive, good luck with that. We have been waiting probably close to or over a year now. When contacting support, it takes 1-3 weeks for replies, and the staff have been extremely rude. Apparently they feel because they are unpaid, it gives them the right to be ignorant assholes.
If your going with your own private hive, I have stuck mainly to the Reality build.
Base files are found on github: https://github.com/thevisad/DayZ-Private-master
Wiki: https://github.com/thevisad/DayZ-Privat ... iki/_pages
Instructions can be rather hard to find or understand for certain steps, but that's where community assistance helps mostly.
We previously had 15-17 servers running between Dayz, Wasteland, Arma3 Alpha, and Arma3 Wasteland. We are down to about a total of 4 and another server which one of our members rents from another host because the server files are not being released for it.
