Server issue

Post by Cowboy »

I have contacted your support via email. After a few emails back and forth trying to fix my issue I was told to come here to post my issue for help as it is probably a software issue.
I logged into our server and noticed a Runtime error window open. Our VHR dedicated, teamspeak nor internet explorer will not run. The Runtime error no longer shows.
I also had a problem a few days ago of which the VHR dedicated would not run. I was informed to rleoad the os system, of which I did. Everything was working great.
I have restarted the server and still have the same issue.
Thank you.

What was the exact error message, and what prompted it?

It was a microsoft runtime error window. I have no idea as to what prompted it. I recieved a call from a league member that our teamspeak and game server were down. I logged in to the server via desktop remote, and the error was there. I hope that helps.

To be able to potentially say more, I'd need to know more about the error and what was going on at the time of the error. If there's anything more in the system log, that would be helpful.

If you're running Win2012, I also recommend switching to Win2k8 R2. I've seen a couple of blue-screen-type concerns with 2012.

I once again reloaded the OS(windows server 2003 64 bit) everything was working fine. I just signed to the sever via remote desktop. Once our teamspeak is down and so is our VHR. Once again I have received the runtime error of which says Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime error Program: Application has requessted the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the applications support team for more information.

Could you post a screen shot of the error? Is it providing any sort of code or number?

Does the Windows Event Log show any additional information on it?

In general, I also recommend Windows 2008 R2 over Windows 2003, for performance reasons and because it's still being improved (to some extent) by Microsoft, with support beyond 2014.

We are still having issues with our dedicated server. It now for reasons unknown shuts down. After which we had to log into the control panel to reboot the server. This happens at least once or twice a week. Tonight it happened during a special league race we were having. Our server ip is 74.91.124.231

If you are needing to reboot it through the control panel, that tells me that it's freezing/becoming unresponsive instead of shutting down (if it shut down, our system would start it back up for you within 5 minutes). The next time this happens, you should try to log in through the VNC console and look at the network adapter and logs.

The most common reason for freezing on Windows 2003 is running out of memory, so if you're not able to log in through VNC, that's most likely to be the culprit (though it could certainly be other a different software problem, like an application fork-bombing).

The most common reason for everything to work except for the network adapter is this: http://www.nfoservers.com/forums/viewto ... =47&t=8820

First I would to thank you for your help thus far with our issues.

I went to the link you provided. As for step one, all setting were as they should be, no changes were needed.

As for the second step to update the Xen driver, that was done by NFO just a few weeks ago.

To clarify, I was only suggesting looking at the network driver link if you were having a problem with the network driver specifically.
