sounds cool enough.. but the real question with me should be.. is if 200mb hard-disk space given out by nfo would even get close to what I need for all my files.. lol... I have tons of maps.. just play on my server sometime and type listmaps.. and thats not all of them either.. thers about 20 not shown... lol
Cut back on your custom maps a lil'bit to like 10-20,Keep the best and toss the rest.Alot of maps take up too much space on the FREE websites anyhow.I just deleted 90mb of maps and plan to just keep between 10-15 maps on the website.Alot of maps hardly ever get played anyway.
Later on I can rotate in some different maps if I want. From what I've seen there's really not alot of QUALITY custom maps out anyway.Just having a few custom maps on a server breaks up the monotony of the defaults.Having players download a 10mb map in under a minute-they' come out of the download shocked and confused at how fast they got the map

I like all my maps though.. wll some of them I hate but alot of people on my server like them I just like too many maps.. Hmm... Expecally the kz ones.. I cannot get rid of those.
Sal and I went through some hell, but I have the HTTP fast download stuff down like a dream and was able to get him fully operational. I think the most vital thing about this new way of transfering content would be to use res files. I have gotten a lot of maps from the author's websites that are still missing files which has led me on little hunts for the correct files here and there. Some maps are encoded with file lists inside of them so the server will automatically send them, so it is pretty much a hit or miss sometimes. I think it is really important for a renter to fully test out the transfer of each new map added to the server individually and not place the files in their steam directory. Upload the files for only one map at a time, test the transfer for errors, and then continue with the next one just to be safe.
Another important thing to remember is when you get an error stating that a file was not found, please be sure to write down the folder path as well as the filename that appears to be missing. Similar named files can be tricky and Sal and I did run into this. If it wasn't for writing the info down and then clicking OK to the error, we probably would not have figured it out. Good job on the FAQ John!
Yeah I set up the http fast downloading it's not too hard. Then I was like 20 -0 with getting the maps working, with varying degrees of difficulty.I had to create some .res files for some and double-check paths alot. With all these maps I was successful with getting them to download with the http fast downloading.
Nothing I tried seemed to work. Then Metro graciously helped me(Thank you) by trying it and found out that the map was missing 2 overview files.I spent a week banging my head against the desk trying to get that map to work. Now it is I think I'll wait to add anymore maps.
Thanks again Metro

1. You just changed it to look that way . But wherever you got that picture is probably also where the one on the forums came from. Which reminds me, I need to change that to the new one.
