Cannot connect to ANY NFO server when connected through Rout

Post by Torian »

Mmkay, so I've been trying to connect to Moronyard, which is a NFO server. I found out that NO NFO server works for me. So we finally found out it was a problem with my router, which is blocking ALL NFO SERVERS for whatever reason. Here's most of what you need to know, but if you need something else, tell me and I can try to get it for ya. Any help is appreciate!

Now to plug it back into the router...

My MAC ID's don't match either...

It's a Medialink MWN-WAPR300N.

Why are all of these forwarded ports defined? Are you running a lot of services from your home? Most of the time, home users should not need to statically forward any ports at all, and doing so opens up some security holes.

Well, they were really for seeing if ANY of them would let me connect. They aren't there anymore. What kind of services do you mean?

Services as in, programs that rely on those ports to be open that you want the world to access. For instance 21 for an FTP server, 80 for a web server, 53 for a DNS server and things of that nature. Generally, programs are allowed to open outbound connections while inbound connections would be blocked.

Wait...Why is my IP different in my router connection status?
The list of leases that you posted does not include your machine, likely because you're using a physical connection instead of wireless. Your machine might be shown on a different page.

Removing the forwarded ports and DMZ setting will be good to do. If that doesn't help, you might try updating the firmware on your router. I'm not sure where else to go apart from replacing the router -- I don't have a lot of experience with troubleshooting clients' home routers, and they're all a little different.

Different ip and mac address is ok.

Router overview would show your ip to the outside world as well as your router mac address.

With the list of connected devices, each device has it's individual ip and mac address.

Network router ips generally start with 192.168.x.x

Wouldn't worry about ports and dmz in a home setup.
If anything, people generally block ports. In some cases it's by people who prefer to use games they downloaded of the net without paying and trying to restrict authentication.

DMZ and ports have been cleared already. Still nothing though.

Do you have UPnP enabled? If not, try enabling that. I would also double check you have no filters set in your security settings. I've checked your router's website, it looks like the latest firmware version is v5.07.45, I suggest updating to it.

Also if possible, you might just restore to default settings.
