Yes, it was. NFO has the best price and service on the market imo. I'm just fed up with the big gaming companies.joshh20 wrote:I thought that it was just another typical move by EA, and charging GSPs even more to run their games. I'm not sure if that is what Busterking was implying.

I think they are expecting us to pay the extra fees to cover their costs of the behind-the-scenes services. I wonder if none of us were to run servers and it was all on them, EA/DICE. How would they cover those costs then?
Re: Battlefield 4 Servers ETA
Yeah why pay for things with the billions they will make off the game itself? that is all profit money!

Simple. They would password protect the servers, and make you pay more $$ for that password privilege. Or reserved/VIP slot type only system, that again you have to pay for. When there is greed involved, there is always a way.TimSad wrote:I think they are expecting us to pay the extra fees to cover their costs of the behind-the-scenes services. Re: Battlefield 4 Servers ETA
My understanding from a post in a competitors forums is that the slot fee is paid to EA to cover the cost of the infrastructure needed to maintain the stats. Blaze or whatever it's called. The GSP doesn't profit from the slot fees.
The price increased because they found in BF3, that the money collected for the infrastructure wasn't enough and was why there was so many issues.
With the increase fees, they hope to run a better performing infrastructure and eliminate the issues for BF4 that were seen with BF3.
I don't know if this was just the GSP's thoughts or if it was actually accurate on what EA's intentions are to provide a improved system. Either way, they need to improve a lot before our clan ever returns to Battlefield.

Re: Battlefield 4 Servers ETA
The value of the slots BF4 in dedicated servers will become the same value of the slots of BF3? Or not have this collection of slots .... what would be good, very good ...
Re: Battlefield 4 Servers ETA
Read earlier in the thread.
John said it will be a higher fee than BF3.

It's frustrating that soja, I just read that it may be more expensive than the slots BF3.
Not have reason to have a dedicated machine.
In fact I'm frustrated.

Re: Battlefield 4 Servers ETA
Hopefully shouldnt be over the top expensive ,compared to other gsp's tht will over charge.
Re: Battlefield 4 Servers ETA
I have seen a competitor selling BF3 slots at 10 cents per slot compared to NFOs 25 cents. Do they just eat the loss and pay for it by their other services, or do different GSP's get a different rate?

Re: Battlefield 4 Servers ETA
I guess with NFO you get what you pay for with performamce and service etc..
I suspect its the same rate because a handful of gsps have been picked to host BF4.If there were different rates then the ones that didnt get picked would have been picked and charged a different rate by there poor performance etc...if you know what i mean.

Re: Battlefield 4 Servers ETA
Right but if I am running on my own machine, and all other games have no slot fee, why is it different for BF3 and different GSPs?
I don't doubt that NFO is the highest quality GSP around, and I say it everywhere it is relevant, but finding cheaper prices for this fee required by EA just got me curious.

Re: Battlefield 4 Servers ETA
Reading on the forum for Procon on the discussion of BF4 GSP's, there has been mention that a GSP has priced a BF4 64 slot server at $115/month. If that's true, who can afford that, let alone 2 or 3 servers. They also mention that this GSP has been greedy with their pricing in the past.
