Unsolveable lag

Post by combineelite »

I recently switched from my fast, managed 4 core VDS to a unmanaged 4 core VDS hoping to get a faster machine and more functionality. Turns out, it was the complete opposite of what I expected. My ping and my connection is fine, no packet loss, speedtest just to show;

Code: Select all

But, the lag problem is causing me giant problems. I am running SRCDS for Garry's Mod, and the game is running very choppy, lagging after a couple of seconds. Already did a support ticket but with no luck, Brendan told me to come post here. I have no other software except for minecraft_server and SRCDS and winrar, so it isn't a software problem. Can anybody help me?

An unmanaged VDS will not run servers at a greater speed than a managed VDS. We tweak the OS and the servers to run at peak performance when we manage the machine. Still, you should be able to get great performance.

Are you sure that you copied over all of the configuration files exactly as the were before?

Are you running the same OS that we were running?

I was referring to the server.cfg, autoexec.cfg, and so on. Ours come tweaked with high rate settings and other settings that help performance.
