Hey all,
I've been battling this for a couple of days now, so It's time to turn to the experts for help.
I'm setting up a DayZ Epoch server on a VPS here at NFO. I've followed various instructions on the web/youtube, but nothing. Lastly I followed these instructions: http://epochmod.com/forum/index.php?/to ... te-server/
...which say:
_______________________________
Now, 31DEC2013, I have it working again, and here is what I did:
1. Uninstalled Arma2, Arma2OA, and Arma2OA Beta.
2. Delete the Arma profiles in C:\Documents\User\Name\Appdata
3. Reboot, reinstall Arma2 from Steam, run it once and set up a profile.
4. Reinstall Arma2OA from Steam, run it once, set up or make sure my profile from Arma2 is there.
3. Reinstall Arma2OA Beta patch, run it and make sure you see "Expansions" at the main screen. Also, copy Arma2OA.exe beta from Expansion\Beta into the main Arma2OA folder (it will replace the original Arma2OA, so make a backup before you replace it).
4. Run DayZ Commander and install DayZ and DayZ Epoch.
5. Find a DayZ server through DayZ Comamnder and join it, then abort after you spawn and exit back to DayZ Commander.
6. Do the same but this time join an Epoch Server.
7. Create a folder on C drive (it can be anywhere, that is where I have mine) called "DayZ Server"
8. Copy your Arma2 folder to the DayZ Server folder.
9. Copy your Arma2OA folder to the DayZ Server folder.
10. Download the Epoch Server files and extract to your DayZ Server folder.
11. Open the Instance 11 Chernarus folder and using Notepad or Notepad++ modify the HiveExt.dll and config.cfg (see server install instructions)
12. Start SQL server using a program like xampp.
13. I use Navicat Lite to create the databases from the video above. I start by importing the epoch.sql and then the 1_0_3Updates.sql
14. Use the bat file for Chernarus to start the Epoch server. Join the game.
______________________________________________
The parts I could not completely do are the 'run once' steps, as there are of course no graphics cards on the VPS units, but it does seem to create the files correctly. I can also not complete steps 5 and 6, for same reason. The rest is done correctly (I;ve tried it a few times).
.bat file will not start the server where it is (inside configs folder - I get a little window saying 'Windows cannot find 'Expansion\beta\arma2oaserver.exe'. Make sure you types the name correctly and then try again). I have to move it INSIDE the Arma2 OA folder for it to work at all. However, when I go to Dayz Commander on my home PC, and enter the IP/port in favorites, the 'machine' is 'found', but it shows that the dayz server is ...nothing (when you hover over 'VERSION' in the columns).
Win Server 2012 BTW
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Ice.

Re: Help with Epoch server set-up
If it just needs the game to run you could likely get it to trigger that process just by opening it, even though it will error out and close it should create the needed files. I had to do a similar process with Dayz setup. However, if this requires an actual server join you'll likely need to do it on your home computer and transfer any created files over.
@Kraze^NFo> Juski has a very valid point
@Juski> Got my new signature, thanks!
@Kraze^NFo> Out of context!
@Juski> Doesn't matter!
@Juski> You said I had a valid point! You can't take it back now! It's out there!

Re: Help with Epoch server set-up
Hmmm... thanks Kraze. I did try something similar, but not hosting it at home first. I'll give it a shot!
Maybe once it's done, i can put up a how-to on this
I'll report back!
