Holy crap vilayer? That is probably the worst GSP you can go with. Our dayz Standalone was terrible and support was non existent.
They also offer NS2 24 slots at 15-20 dollars. What the hell?
I would say you would probably get better performance if you went with pay per slot instead of VDS The price is also very reasonable.
Which VPS plan should i get?

Re: Which VPS plan should i get?
There comes a point where a company will offer prices so low that even the cheapest of people's common sense will kick in(at least I hope). NS2 is one of those games where it's will easily use a full core of some of the fastest machines and then some.FAST wrote:Holy crap vilayer? That is probably the worst GSP you can go with. Imagine he's using a standard four core with hyper-threading. That gives him 8 cores to play with and with each server using a full core, that would allow him 8 customers per box(assuming they care about performance even a little). 32 slot server cost $15.36 X 8 = $122.88. So for $122.88/month he is paying for that box(bandwidth, power, colo cost..etc) and making a profit?
As with most smaller GSP's, they are likely hemorrhaging money and won't stay in business very long. We've seen this same thing occur at a few other GSP's recently. They normally make it 3-4 years and then disappear overnight.

Kraze, there is actually profit with that cost over in EU. At OVH you can get a 1245v2(Ivy Bridge 3.2Ghz) for $60/m. Includes 200Mbps bw(roughly 66TB), 32GB ram, and 2x2TB HDD. OVH has also recently rolled out some pretty decent DDOS protection systems. Their servers are VERY compelling for european customers(you can't order their servers if you live in USA, you need to go through a reseller). The competitor in question uses OVH for most of its EU servers.kraze wrote:There comes a point where a company will offer prices so low that even the cheapest of people's common sense will kick in(at least I hope). Re: Which VPS plan should i get?
Sorry for double post, but this also assumes all servers are full. I am 90+% sure ViLayer would put 10+ NS2 servers on a machine, most of their customers are not serious communities, meaning their servers will sit empty for the 30 days they paid.

This is true, I didn't factor in that they're likely renting machines.soja wrote:Kraze, there is actually profit with that cost over in EU. At OVH you can get a 1245v2(Ivy Bridge 3.2Ghz) for $60/m. Re: Which VPS plan should i get?
I have heard universally negative things about both companies, but I guess I wouldn't hear the good stuff from customers coming to us from there.
In the future, please keep in mind that we do not wish for these forums to be about competitors' offerings.

Re: Which VPS plan should i get?
Our control panel has actually been in development for much longer than TCAdmin -- it wasn't available when we started, nor was any other control panel system. As we've come out with new features in ours, we've seen competing control panels adopt them.magiccarpet wrote:This is my review for NFO:
NFOServers with almost a full server have absolutely no lag with cars and flying hoverball death machines everything still runs smooth with a $60 VPS, I've had great fast support so far.
The only thing that I don't like is NFOs managed control panel, I understand they take pride in developing their own control panel and not going with the TCAdmin. I don't believe TCAdmin is cheap at all, I think it's a well developed user friendly interface. I don't really mind the NFO control panel, I just wish they'd add support for unzipping zipped files. It's a pain in the neck uploading 20,000 files instead of just one zipped file. ( It takes alot longer ). Other than that great service!
When it comes to uploading files to a Garrysmod server, you should consider using the SVN option. This is the best way to download large addons/game modes.
