Gmod server connection issues when disconnecting RDP session

I have a Gmod server running under an account on my VPS and when I disconnect the RDP session (I don't log off I just click X) it causes the red connection error to popup in the gmod server for a little bit and then recovers.

I have a feeling its something to do with disconnecting the session and causing the program to freeze up for a second while the session is getting thrown into the background. Is there anyway to prevent this?

In some cases seeing small server lag/skips when someone is connected to RDP or doing something over RDP is normal, but I wouldn't expect it to be a recurring pattern. What size is your VDS?

Virtual CPU cores: 3
Memory size: 3072 MB
Standard hard drive size: 300 GB

Whenever I'm connected to RDP I've never seen any lag issues. It's only when disconnecting.

Is the VDS under heavy load or anything?

ab0mbs, I recommend running the server as a Windows service through software such as Firedaemon, as it won't be tied to your Windows session that way. It's also best to administer the server through rcon instead of through the console (if you're currently doing it through the console).

I like to keep an eye on the console output sometimes and also have a powershell script run when the server crashes to update some non-workshop addons.
Would firedaemon allow me to keep a script like that and also allow me to see ALL the console output?
