The funny thing about running them from our VDSes/dedicated machines is that we have more available throughput than the test sites -- so you'll always see a number that's lower than reality .

I am purchasing a cheap-o dedi with unlimited bandwidth on a gigabit adapter later today for this and other high-bandwidth needs we have. I understand it is not the highest quality but at this point it will cost us $150/m to keep [the speedtest] host on NFO xD That VDS will just stay as our web VDS(which pushes only about 500GB/m)

Why in the world would you want to run a speedtest site permanently? And if it's on low-quality bandwidth, it will decrease the quality of speedtest results for others, so that's not good.

When I say low quality I mean average bandwdith, the same bandwidth a ton of these sites are on. I have other needs for high bandwidth hosting that I will use the server for at the same time. The reason for keeping the server online is website exposure.

That happens to me a lot, if I join a large Minecraft server, I usually end up timing out and my internet goes off.
