Hey guys,
I am currently using a virtual dedicated server (unmanaged) to host game servers and the like, I was wondering if anyone is familiar with the the DCS series games and if they were able to host a multiplayer server on their VDS or Full machine. If so would you be able to give me a helping a hand.
I know that the DCS series requires one to actually host a multiplayer session as if one was actually playing the game, therefore one must start the game. The main problem here is that the VDS does not actually use a graphics card (or at least DX9 supported), which causes the DCS World to crash upon start up.
If some has found a way around around this, or an idea, your help would be greatly appreciated.
(note I intentionally didn't mention any of my server specs because as far as I can tell, this will be a problem with all VDS's and Dedicated boxes, therefore I would like to know if anyone is at least able to run the game off such a machine.)
Thanks,

Re: Digital Combat Simulator
Generally there isn't any real way around this. In some cases you can use a program to fake a GPU, but even then, it's not likely to work very well.
@Kraze^NFo> Juski has a very valid point

@Juski> You said I had a valid point! You can't take it back now! It's out there!

I have also heard of people making the 3D part of a game not even render(I think this was done with MW2 or FC2).

Re: Digital Combat Simulator
I had briefly thought about trying to get the program to think there is a graphics card, however I do not know a way to go about that(a graphics card emulator, if such a thing exists?), and I also doubt it would work/be stable. (though the game does not actually need to be played).kraze wrote:Generally there isn't any real way around this. As part of the installation of a server for DCS, it is common to disable the 3D rendering option, which I have done and the the DCS World program still fails to start.soja wrote:I have also heard of people making the 3D part of a game not even render(I think this was done with MW2 or FC2).
