Questions about ToS

Post by Sir Nipah »

I had a read of your ToS and have some questions.
ToS wrote:Run a "sub-service" from the server that allows connections to a different IP address on the machine or to a different port on the server's IP address, or which piggybacks on a provided server port to provide "back door" abilities to control the server that are not already included with the server as provided by Nuclearfallout
ToS wrote:Run a tunnel or proxy to a server at another host + Host, store, proxy, or use a Denial of Service (DoS/DDoS) tool in any capacity, including a tool referring to itself as a "network testing" utility
Would this stop me from running a BNC tool (Like ZNC) on other IRC networks?
ToS wrote:Initiate connections to external IP addresses (outside of the server machine) without the permission of the owner of the external IP, to include pinging another address or connecting to an external database or webserver.
As a web developer it is necessary for me to make remote HTTP connections to other servers (Like Twitter.com). It is not necessary to have their "permission" to use their API, but would I be in violation of your ToS?

Some other questions are..
Is it ok to run software like Bittorrent Sync?
What are the big "no no" that would stop me from using a VDS? (Mostly be used for Dev team, SVN, BNC and some file syncing)

All questions are in regards to the VDS service that you offer.

The "sub-service" part that you quoted does not apply to VDSes.

If the other host grants you permission implicitly by offering a public service with a TOS/AUP whose requirements you meet, then this would be allowed unless or until they revoke such access (usually by contacting us to report it as abuse). The applications and purposes that you listed should be acceptable.
