Possibly look into adding SA-MP to NFOServers?

This is used for general discussion that is not necessarily server-related.

Possibly look into adding SA-MP to NFOServers?

Post by rymax99 »

I myself wouldn't be interested in a SA-MP server, as I use a VDS so I have complete control, but it's be a great addition to NFO for profit.

Allow me to explain. SA-MP is based on GTA SA, it's old, but it still has a decent player base (75+ thousand). SA-MP servers use next to no resources, therefore it'd be very profitable for NFO. Since the SA-MP forums has so many scripts that you can just download and run, people are always creating servers, granted most aren't successful (as with any game server of this type, lets be honest), but they have to pay for a host or use some very bad free host. NFO has a bit of a reputation over their for the VDS servers, so if NFO offered specific SA-MP hosting, some money could be made. My server uses no more than 50 MB of RAM, and 5% CPU usage (I think it's less, that's just a very rough guess) with 50 players. Put it this way, I have a 1 GB Linux only VDS running Nginx, MySQL, ProFTPd, LFD, PHP5-FPM, and a few other daemons running, and I have 770+ MB of ram left at all times, and I rarely go above 10% CPU usage for more than 5 seconds. Though I've recently moved my web server for my community forums to another server for stability, performance, and security purposes, so the only reason I have the web server running is for my community homepage and admin control panel, until I setup remote SQL add the code needed in the scripts to connect remotely.

Just thoughts from me. NFO has served me well, and I look out for those who look out for me.

Negatives are of course that features for the control panel have to be made for it and all, and that SA-MP is prone to DDoS attacks (aren't all games servers?).

This is certainly something that we can look into, if those servers are legal to run.
