That's pretty much how it works. You just enter the IP address into the Remote Desktop client, and when you connect, the client asks you for the username and password. The IP address, username, and password are all given in our control panel, under "Server control".

We also provide a useful "VNC console" option that you can use if you accidentally firewall yourself out or need to recover the system, as a different page in the control panel.

Ah. With Ubuntu or other Linux distributions, you'll need to use SSH instead. It's just as easy to log in, using a client like PuTTY, but there's a bit more of a learning curve when it comes to using the system.

If you're still running Ubuntu on it, then I'd recommend you switch to Windows if you don't have any Linux knowledge as trying to run stuff on Linux without any knowledge about how Linux functions can be a real mess.

You can install AppServ, though I wouldn't recommend it as AppServ is very oudated and in tern it uses very old versions of Apache, MySQL, PHP, and phpMyAdmin that often contain many security vulnerabilities. Apart from that, you're free to do anything as long as it's within the NFO TOS (https://www.nfoservers.com/termsofservice.php) as it's an unmanaged VPS.

For the incorrect password, did you re-install your operating system to Windows, or are you still using Ubuntu? If you're using Ubuntu, please keep in mind the user you should be logging in as is 'root'.
