DayZ Epoch

Post by DiddlyDoDah »

Hello,

I am trying to setup a DayZ Epoch server on my 3 core VPS.

I keep getting this error :

I'm sure that there are ways to setup a DayZ server on a VPS since I've seen the posts here people have made about them.

I would appreciate some help with this and even be willing to pay someone to set one up for me.

Thanks.

Did you download the dedicated server files from https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arm ... #Windows_2 ?

Usually an error like this indicates you are trying to open a 3D game rather than a dedicated server.

Yep, you are launching (trying to) the arma2.exe inststead of armaoaserver.exe as soja mentioned.

How did you install Arma 2 CO? I would recommend to use the SteamCMD tool. From the error, you are trying to patch versions that do not match, or you are missing DLC Add-Ons.

I'm still willing to pay someone to set this up for me and let me watch.

How would I use SteamCMD to update it?

The SteamCMD tool will only work of course, if you have a version of ArmA 2 CO purchased through steam.

If that is the case you can simply use the SteamCMD tool to download the required files and keep them up to date (though there is no development for ArmA 2 anymore).

Follow this URL for a tutorial of how to use the SteamCMD tool (it is for Red Orchestra 2, but still valid for ArmA 2 CO if you replace the AppID with ArmA 2 CO's).

I am willing to help you, but I am not setting up the complete server for you, you will have to this work yourself, either by trial and error, or by reading through the numerous tutorials available. In the end, you will also have to run maintenance on the server yourself and Epoch is a bit more demanding in that regard, so I suggest you do some research.
