Order/Payment problem

Post by ZenLeozera »

Hello,

Dear members/guests.

First of all. I wanna say that i don't wanna flame the company at all, i believe that they are doing everything to protect their own and i respect that. This thread is just to show what happened to me.

I have serious problems to make purchasing a server from this company.

Tried to purchase with them and got no success at all.
I followed every tip/step contained on nfo's website but for some unknown reason (that they don't tell exactly, it's something about risk calculator, but can't be sure what increase or calls that), it don't allow me to pay with Paypal or Credit Card. As every user that has problems with payment (similar), they wanted me to send a some snaps of my personal documents including the back of the credit card to prove that i'm not a fraud.

That was okay, except for one thing. "Signed Credit Card".
Where i live (Brazil), we don't exactly sign the credit cards to avoid frauds (thieves to copy/clone your signature), our banks tell us to don't do that. We just need to also show our government id.

History:
I tried to purchase by Paypal. I have my verified paypal (verified cc and account self) and tried to purchase with the same e-mail that own the account, same full name. Everything OK.

At begin, i didn't wanted to send my personal information (like credit card number), for safety. That's why people use Paypal. Even so, after sometime talking to support team and asking my friends about that company (yes, 2 friends recommended me), i decided to trust and provide it to end that history and headaches.

Later, talking to support team, they told me for a "Signed Credit Card". which i don't own because on my country, we don't sign it's back to avoid "Credit Card Clones". Once again, asked for another way to solve it, as far i would pay with Paypal and everything there is verified. No success.

Some months later, i decided to try again, maybe the company changed it's requirements.
This time i tried to purchase with my credit card, directly (no paypal). No success. Even giving a different e-mail account.

End:

I have no idea why they are rejecting my order. Support team said that's nothing related to Brazil customers, but there's nothing else to use to calculate the risk. Am i being discriminated by my name? My e-mail ?

I can't purchase a VPS from NFO.

After many hours with the support team, they could not solve my problem.
But i must say that it's support are quite fast, less than 5 minutes to answer every sent e-mail.
Even so, we could not solve our deal and i didn't bought anything.

Don't take it as a destructive flame, but as a outburst from someone who has an interest in your services. I believe that's not just me with that problems.

The information we ask for is fairly basic and not too personal. We don't ask for your credit card number. We ask for your ID, the back of your credit/debit card and a statement saying "I authorize NFOservers to charge this card". In Brazil, you do sign the back of your cards and I feel fairly confident in saying that if you check the back of the card it will say "Not valid unless signed".

The information we request is outlined here.

Fraud is a very serious thing for the online world. Unlike brick and mortar stores we don't get the luxury to see the person, view their body language, hold the card in our hand and check it out. We must take ample steps to protect not only us, but our customers. Not to mention, if an order does end up being fraud do you know who gets the blunt of it? Yes, NFO. It seriously effects our reputation with our payment processors and cost us money.

Currently this matter hasn't been escalated to John because it doesn't need him, yet. It's a policy we're very firm on. Our payment processor requires this information, and if an order ends up being fraud it's only our recourse to show that we took every step possible to prevent it.

I never said that it's forbidden to sign our cards, i said that our banks doesn't recommends that and don't have that "habit".

I believe that "Not valid unless signed" is only for non-chip credit cards (not digital signature)

I can easily print my credit card's back, but i can't sign it if even my bank doesn't recommends that.

Yes, i can send a photo of my government id, my card's back and hand-made statement saying "I authorize NFOservers to charge this card. But once again, We don't sign cards in Brazil. Ask banks or just search on Google.

I understand and know that fraud is a very serious problem, mainly on internet. I don't want to fraud a payment and just asking for another way to do that.

My paypal is verified, the credit cards has my name.

It don't happen just to me, it also happened to a friend.

I've yet to see a card which does not have an area to sign your card. I can understand Brazil may operate slightly differently, since fraud is extremely rampant there, but this is something we require. Before you will be able to order we need that information.

Unfortunately, our banks flat require the card to be signed, or they'll automatically reject our case in a dispute. I realize that members of some communities in Brazil say that they prefer not to sign cards; some people here in the US say the same thing. Low-level banks employees may even say it. But, it's a requirement of VISA, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express, so the bank can't ignore it; their contracts with these networks, and their contract with you, do require the signature. The signature on the card is for your protection, because merchants are supposed to check it against what you sign at the register.

Paypal and credit card fraud is rampant in Brazil, unfortunately, so many Brazilian customers are reported as having a high risk to us, leading us to require these extra materials. Paypal's verification process does not reduce the risk to us.

I understand.

You convinced me to try, i just sent the information to confirm that i'm not a fraud.
Once this information is approved, will i need to send it every month?

I must say that you need to get another way to do that, i think you are losing many customers doing that way, that's just my opinion.

This process only needs to be done once for that payment source. We are definitely open to suggestions on the process. If you have ideas please do let us know. Though, the information we require cannot be changed. As mentioned a few times. This is information is required by our payment processors before they'll even consider letting us dispute a case marked as fraud.
