Steam CMD problems

Post by xXthatNAVYguyXx »

When I try to download a new server it does not put the files in the specified directory, I am not even sure it is installing them at all. How do I fix this? I do:
login anonymous
force_install_dir C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop\Awesome land updated\garrysmod
app_update 4020 validate

What am I doing wrong?

Are you on a non administrator account running SteamCMD? If so, that could be blocking it due to permissions.

nope its an administrator account. Its weird because it says its downloading the files and even says they were installed successfully but the folder is empty. I can make new files in the folder so I'm pretty sure its not the OS's file system.

If those files are stored on the VDS, yes. Unless you also have SSD space added to the VDS and choose to preserve those files upon wiping.

Try using a much simpler path like C:\servers\awesomeland

Command line tools generally need "" around paths with spaces, is there a folder on your desktop simply named Awesome that has the server files in it?

If you are set on your current path, try adding "" around the file path.
