Server lagg issues.

Post by preben »

Hello, we are facing some lagg issues with our VDS. When it reaches 30-40 players it starts to lagg with ping jumps.

Server: Garry's mod.
Cpu and memory usage is not so bad.

I would really appreciate if someone could take a look at our VDS.

Thank you.

Unfortunately player ping doesn't show server performance. Can you add me on steam so I can take a closer look? Click the + in my signature :)

You can find the values mentioned above in your server.cfg. I'd also recommend checking out net_graph 4 and letting us know if you are seeing any choke/loss.

net_maxfilesize 30
sv_minrate 0
sv_maxrate 20000

I don't see any net graph here.

Your min and max rate are off. You should set your minrate to something like 100000 and your max rate to 0. You should also add net_splitpacket_maxrate 100000 to your server.cfg.

As for net_graph 4. That is a command you need to type into console when you have joined your server. Once done a graph will appear. You'll want to monitor the choke/loss values.

Server is stable at 40 players now, but sometimes it has a lag that lasts for only 1 or 2 seconds then it stops.

But way better than before.

During these lag periods do you observe any choke/loss or latency spikes?

What is CPU/ram usage looking like for your VDS? Also is that specific server maxing out a core?
