I'm asking alot of questions because last time I rented a server I didnt ask any, and I got royally screwed.

I live up in Fairbanks Alaska, and there are absolutley no server hosting companies up here. When I ping 66.150.160.134 (Seattle InterNAP) at home, I get an average ping of 61. Is this a reliable number for what i would get in my server? Or does the test IP have ping boosters and all those extras on it to make the ping look better?

In other words, will my ping be higher on my server, due to no extras(I.E. ping booster, CPU priority) and players in the server?

Didnt rent a server from NFO, it was from some other company.

I assume that you pinged gz.nuclearfallout.net, GroundZero

that server is accelerated, so if you got a non accelerated server, you can expect about 70 ping.

We got a bunch of people from alaska, and they generally get accelerated.

So that server ip I pinged, probably has players in it?

yes GroundZero usually has players in it.

if their is players in the server then it wouldnt show a higher ping.....all the servers are hosted on a t3 connection so you dont have to worry bout that.......go play there..

In Fisher we have dual 100mbps links.

A T3 can carry 45mbps. So overall we have the equivalent of more than four T3s at our disposal at just that one location.
