Unmanaged Virtual Dedicated Servers SQL

Okay, to start this off I bought a VDS to set up MySQL for my ArmA 3 Altis Life Server.

I looked over and followed Juski instruction page on MySQL, Apache, and phpMyAdmin (SetUp)

Then after setting all of it up I realised that I only needed the MySQL setup (after watching a video by Brendan Allen)

Yet it is a different hoster you can still get the info to login into Navicat.
So my problem is that I set up my MySQL and placed a password and left every thing else default, Yet I put in the password and it will not allow me to access it. (In the video he could not access it at first (Thats how it looks like for me) I have the right password and the right IP/Hostname.
I changed my OS multiple times and reinstalled, use a different password it still did not work.

As well when I type mysql in console it will give me an Error that will say:
"ERROR 1045 (280000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)
