Hi all,
Been researching and trying to find which OS would be best suited to host team fortress 2 servers.
I am familiar with Linux and Windows although ive never ran servers on Windows.
Planning on hosting 24 player servers near stock due to quick play restrictions lol.

Re: Preferred OS for Team Fortress 2?
I'd recommend you go with Windows Server 2008R2.
@Kraze^NFo> Juski has a very valid point

@Juski> You said I had a valid point! You can't take it back now! It's out there!

Simple.

It doesn't make much difference performance wise. If you plan on using a VDS that has a lower amount of ram(4 core or below, for example) I would go with Linux, Windows likes to eat up a gig or so for the OS.
Linux is also easier IMO for automation, configuring your server for auto-updating for example.
I run TF2 servers on Linux and Windows, and it is really just personal preference.
