A couple of questions

Post by SloppierKitty7 »

I have had a server with NFO before but I was not paying for it but seeing as I am going to be setting up my own gaming company with my own money I need to know a couple of thing

1: do you have ddos protection
2: if I go over my monthly data do you automatically take the money out of may bank or do you do what 1&1 does where if you don't pay it your server is stopped until you pay it
3: how many game servers can I run on the six core server

Looking forward to you answers thanks

1.) Each location has automatic filtering for attacks up to various sizes. You can see the network capacity for each location here: https://www.nfoservers.com/networklocations.php

Protection is not guaranteed, and if an attack that comes your way exceeds filtering capacity, the IP being attacked will be null routed for up to 12 hours.

2.) It is impossible to go over your bandwidth limit on the 6-core VDS running only game servers. I run the most bandwidth heavy game servers known at the moment, and on my fastest and most used box I only manage to push 16TB/m. You will run out of CPU power far before you hit a bandwidth issue. If you do manage to go over, at the end of your billing period you will get an invoice for the overage amount, and if I recall correctly you have 2 weeks to pay it. Overages are billed at $.02/GB.

3.) It depends entirely on which games, the slot counts of the servers, and the settings of the servers. If you can give a game name I could give you a rough estimate, but the only way to know for sure is to put the servers on the VDS, and see how it does.

I hope I managed to answer your questions, if you have any more, please ask!

You can probably estimate 1 populated server per core.
