Hey guys.
I want to run a Minecraft server, and since that is a single-core application, I was wondering if it's possible to perhaps custom order a VDS with one core and more than one gigabyte of RAM. Currently, I'm running a Minecraft server on the two-core plan with one extra gig of RAM but I believe at least one of the cores is not even being used except by the operating system which is sort of a waste. What's running on the VDS is McMyAdmin so that my staff can manage the server without having server root access and messing anything up, as well as Spigot 1.8.7 with 3GB RAM allocated. Can anyone tell me if this setup is even using the second core? Further, I'll be programming multi-threaded applications to extend the Minecraft server (plugins). Will those use the second core at all?
Thanks in advance.
Jake

Re: VDS Single Core but more than 1GB RAM
Currently we do not allow for custom configurations like that. To be able to use add extra ram/SSD space to your VDS you would need at least a two core. Though, while MC is a single threaded application, plugins can be bound to other threads, essential making it multithreaded.
