Saving Server Information

Post by CptJackSparrow »

I was just wondering something. My clan wants to shut down our server in the off season because we frankly don't need it. But we will indefinatly start it back up again before the next season starts. Is there anyway that you could save all our files and just have them ont he server again when we renew it?

The files will automatically be removed two weeks after the server is shut down, so if you plan to keep it down longer than that then you will need to back them up and restore them after you re-rent.

The easiest way to download all your files would be to use FTP.

What edge said. I suggest just making ur own 'ftp lookalike' folder, and backing-up your files into that. Make it look exactly the same. Put the files in the appropriate folder, etc etc. This can take a while, so read a book or watch some TV while this is happening. This way, when you re-activate your server, you know where the files are, and what folders go where. Also, you won't have to re-download any mods/plug-ins you have.

Also, make sure you copy all the execute commands out of your CP. As you might know, installing a mod/plugin without the correct execcommand is pointless. So make sure you know them and they are copied down in notepad or something...
