Problems uploading maps

Post by fackler »

I am trying to install de_karachi01 but am having problems uploading. When I try to upload de_karachi01.bsp, it fails everytime. But if I rename it to not have the 01, it works. Many other files act the same way. What is going on here??

thats because karachi is one of the default maps pre-installed :)

you should be able to play karachi already on your server.

so with these other resources that aren't uploading either, its the same story? I can't see them, but they are there and something is prohibiting duplicates from being uploaded? This creates a problem when certain maps share resources. I can't get the upload to continue. It fails in a way that seems to make most ftp clients crap out.

the FTP server blocks any file thats already there, to avoid problems with the pre-installed files, same with maps, resource files, anything default.

The list of maps is in the FAQ. It's a Frequently Asked Question. http://rentals.nuclearfallout.net/rent. ... eral-hl#11

How many FTP clients have you tried it in? I haven't heard of this causing fatal errors before. From what people have told me most clients just log the error and continue, which is as it should be.

i have tried it using Filezilla, and wsftp (an old old copy). Also, is there a restriction on simultaneous transfers? I had to turn it off in Filezilla to get it to work at all.

Maybe I should try another client. I guess I could use IE.. god thats lame though.

There's a limit of 10 simultaneous connections, I believe.

might be interested for you to grep the logs on proftpd and look for de_plaka. see whats actually going on from the server side.

proftpd?

Wait, I thought you were talking about the gameserver, which uses serv-u and does not log. Are you talking about the webserver instead? It's our only machine that uses proftpd.

If uploading does not work with IE, have you tried enabling/disabling passive mode?
