Rust Port blocked or closed?

Post by Shad0w_General »

OK so im hosting both an ARK and Rust server off a VPS and for some reason I cant get anything to pick up that the rust server is running for example Gametracker wont detect that the server is there nor will the Rusty Rcon tool. but I can connect and play on the server all good and dandy... And pinging the port 28016 with any tool says its closed now there are no Filters on the VPS's firewall. Please can some one help me!

What OS is running on the VDS? If Windows, have you made sure the rust server executable is allowed through the firewall?

NFO doesn't block ports on their VDS's, with the exception of port 25 iirc for the first two weeks of your VDS subscription.

My Firewall is off im running Windows Server 2008 R2. So not even windows could be blocking the port.

Even with the firewall off, Windows will still block incoming connections unless the program listening is in the list of allowed programs. Check resource monitor as well, to confirm the Rust server has the port open and listening.

Ok so I found out how to fix it for some reason Rust Automatic binds the rcon to 0.0.0.0 so external source's couldn't connect to it. i had to add +rcon.ip (Your servers IP) to the launch .bat. and tada now fixed.
