VNC Black Screen (Screen Capture Failed) Windows 2012
I have a question related to using VNC. I have downloaded the software, set up everything as it is supposed to be. However, there are still problems with connecting because when I connect, it shows a message "screen capture failed" and is attempting to reconnect all the time.

VNC should rarely be used, only when you can't access your VDS because of a network misconfiguration or something. If you do need to use it, the tool on the control panel should be good enough.
For everything else, use Remote Desktop for a Windows VDS, or PuTTY(or some other ssh client) for a Linux VDS.

All my friends use VNC and they say it works perfectly. I am the only one that struggles with it. I have heard about putty but never used it before.

Since you are using windows PuTTY can't be used.Vuk1 wrote:All my friends use VNC and they say it works perfectly. I am the only one that struggles with it. I have heard about putty but never used it before.
VNC might work, but it isn't recommended for various reasons.

Just because all of your friends are inexperienced and are using it does not mean you should.Vuk1 wrote:All my friends use VNC and they say it works perfectly. I am the only one that struggles with it. I have heard about putty but never used it before.
If all of your friends decide to jump off a cliff, do you think it is a good idea to follow?
As stated by NFO on your account VNC page:
VNC is not recommended, period. Why don't you try RDP and see how easy it is and then you can educate your friends and show them a better way of doing things.Note that VNC traffic is unencrypted, with the exception of the sent password. For this reason, and for performance reasons, you should avoid using VNC for general-purpose administration, in favor of Remote Desktop or SSH.
