How to host website when I have domain registered with another company?

Post by macro5436 »

Hi,

I purchased a domain a while back with a different web hosting company. I changed the nameservers for that domain to ns1.nfoservers.com and ns2.nfoservers.com.

It has been over a week since I changed those nameservers with that registrar, yet my browser still says "ERR_Domain_name_resolution_failed" mxtoolbox says "can't resolve domain name to an IP address".

Is this because the nameserver changes have not propagated yet or is it that I need to properly setup the hosting on my VDS?

I did setup the LAMP server on my VDS and setup the proper DNS entries and so forth but still I get back "ERR_Domain_name_resolution_failed".

What do I have to do? Also, I'm planning on using cloudflare but it can't find any nameservers for my domain. :(

Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

You would only want to use our name servers if you plan on using our webhosting, which would allow DNS record setup. If you're hosting the website on a VDS, you'd likely want to stick with your registrar's name servers and DNS. From there, you'd just need to create an "A" record, pointing toward the IP address for your VDS.
