severe timeouts and lag for most people

Post by beerbob »

We have been having a problem with our server
beerbobs BF1942

Most people are reporting severe timeouts ( several seconds) and lag.
I too am experiencing it for the last couple days...and it's quite severe.

I have found the culprit here:

Is there anything that can be done about this???

they need to check their router or switch...it's very bad.!!

Thanks.

I'm not sure what I'm supposed to infer from that trace. It shows a steady ping and no packet loss to the destination IP.

In any case, server-specific questions and tracert's need to be directed to our support email.

That router (owned by Verio) just isn't returning ICMP timeouts -- that doesn't mean it is offline. This behavior could be due to the router being overloaded, or it could mean that they are administratively blocking pings for some reason. You would have to talk to your ISP and have them talk to Verio to know for certain.

What matters, though, is whether you get packet loss and spikes to the destination IP -- in other words, your game server. If it does not show problems at the game server hop, then it's not something to really worry about.
