Process for moving multiple IP's from one machine to another

Post by Jerpy »

Hi everyone,

I've done an IP move process before from a VDS to a full machine, but I have never done a machine to a machine.
I know within the process that John has to take care of manually moving it in terms of the package it is assigned to, but I'm curious as to what the process is for machine to machine since that is slightly different, as there is not a change order page for IP's on full machines.

For full context, these are both debian unmanaged machines. My primary (v3) has 7 total IP addresses. I want to move 6 of them, eth0:1 through 6.

My secondary (v5 - once they're back in stock) will be simple to assign the IP's as well, so that should be all good.

If the process is anything similar to what I did before, would I be safe moving them on my own before John replies, or should I just wait for him to say that he's changed the package its assigned to? I ask this because in the process I did before, the only thing excluded now is removing the IP's via change order page. Moving the IP's manually was done by me before John had to do anything, so as far I know I should be okay to just move them on my own before he replies, since I'd like to have the IP's moved as soon as the machine is ready.

Thanks in advance.

I don't have anything assigned to me right now in the support system on this topic. You will need to open a support request about this and ask us for guidance there.
