Garry's Mod Server Optimization
I'm trying to host one gmod server off of the 4 core virtual machine (unmanaged) and it can barely handle 45 players on at once before the ping count for everyone rises above 200 and the lagging is insane with constant rollbacks and rubber banding. The CPU usage is usually around 50%-70% when full but the pings rise for no reason and everything lags collectively. I'm aware that the source engine only focuses on one CPU and I don't know what to do in order to optimize the server's performance. Any ideas?
Re: Garry's Mod Server Optimization
Most of the optimization is going to come from running a small amount of addons and ensuring that all of those addons are fully updated and are playing nice together. Though, many owners choose to lower their servers tickrate from the default of 33 down to 22 or even 11. This can significantly reduce CPU usage, which can help immensely.
