Unbanning People Problem

OK - I'm probably doing something wrong, but perhaps you guys can give me some guidance. We have an individual that we wish to 'unban' I have connected via the control panel and via a ftp connection, removed the steamid, saved the file and then reverified that the file is saved. However, at some point in time the steamid is again found in the banned.cfg file. We are running CS with AMX.

Any ideas on this? If the server crashes, could it be loading an old copy?

This has happened on many occasions...

You need to unban him through the server, or it will keep and rewrite the ban in the banned.cfg file.

rcon removeid hisid
rcon writeid

It might also help you to get HLSW in case you don't have it.

If you go into settings on HLSW, in the event that you do have it already.. make a check next to the Rcon Control Panel and then you can do any rcon command / adminmod command etc from the web. Without having to be on your server.

Also, it has a nice SteamID Database tool that remembers every Steam ID that connects to your server as well as showing you a nice list of their many names that they use. just a good tool in my opinion.

Even thou i remove a banned steamid from HLSW. On a map change it still mysteriously shows up again. What is the correct way to do it thru HLSW?

All i do when server isn't full i shut down the server, remove the banned steamid and restart the server. Only normal players might get unbanned thou. I try from shutting down often.

You'd have to send the rcon command "writeid" after you do the unban.
