Greetings,
I am wish to host a RunUO (Ultima Online emulator) server, and NFOservers comes recommended by a few people who are hosting such servers here.
I am very new to this, not particularly tech savvy and am searching for some general information. Ultima Online is a rather old program, having been released in 1996. The emulation software is written in C# and requires .Net Framework. I suspect that my server will host somewhere between 20 and 100 players, but would like to be prepared for upwards of 500.
I am considering your virtual four core server. Would this be sufficient for such an endeavor? I also have a question regarding the software. Do your servers run on Linux, and would I need to be familiar with that OS (I am not)? Would there be an issue with RunUO requiring .Net? How user friendly is the process?
Regarding actually getting the server up and running, if I understand correctly, I would need to rent the server, upload the Ultima Online client software, upload the RunUo software, and configure the IP to the virtual server IP. Is there more to the process, and do you offer assistance with this? Is it simple matter to access the server, update and recompile the software, etc?
This is just an attempt at garnering information, and I will be doing a bit more research, but any information, form staff or from people running UO servers, would be greatly appreciated.
Running a RunUO server.

Re: Running a RunUO server.
1) Yes, the 4core should be enough for to start off with. I can't say for sure if it'll reach the maximum of 500 or so. But it's incredibly easy to scale up or down as needed.
2) Both Linux and Windows are supported.
3) You can run RunUO via Mono on linux installations or you can pay a little extra for the windows server distribution.
4) Linux is pretty easy due to the amount of tutorials but it'd probably be much easier for you to just use windows.
5) Sounds about right. Might also want to look into auto start scripts in the event of reboots or crashes.
