Often it takes ~30 seconds to initially connect to my Wordpress based website. After the initial connection, pages load very fast with no delays. I have not experienced the same problem on a different website which does not use Wordpress and is hosted on the same plan.
Sometimes this initial connection takes upwards of 5 minutes, and that's when it really becomes an issue. Does anybody else experience this?

Does your website have an external dependency, such as retrieving a remote resource that might be occasionally offline?
