Wondering about Seattle Premium vs Standard.
I noticed you guys still offer the premium locations up in Seattle but not for VDS servers just for stand alone servers, is this something you guys might offer in the near future for VDS servers by having premium locations for that?
Re: Wondering about Seattle Premium vs Standard.
Each location is either Premium or INAP right now, and it's uniform across all services. For Seattle, all services are shown as Premium.
Premium locations are a blend of INAP and other ISPs/peering, and they typically have much more total bandwidth than INAP-only locations, making them more DDoS resistant (INAP has limited capacities and can't sell us pipes that are big enough). In Seattle, specifically, we have 100G to the SIX, and improves latencies for a large swath of users.

LA is just INAP. As for capacity, we have them all listed here: https://www.nfoservers.com/networklocations.php
Capacity is separate from latency, however. Latency will depend on your home location and routing to the server.

"LA is just INAP"
Hmm, but it is listed as Premium on the page you linked...is the page wrong? I was under impression LA was Premium as well.

TimeX misremembered. LA is "Premium" and not just INAP.

Ah so it is Premium.
Also if I understand correctly Premium vs. non-Premium doesn't depend on the type of service, it's for all services on that location, right?

Re: Wondering about Seattle Premium vs Standard.
The bandwidth type is separate from the service type. We have previously offered multiple bandwidth type options at some locations, with different price points.

Oh, any particular reason why that stopped? Not that it's super important now, just curious

Re: Wondering about Seattle Premium vs Standard.
We consolidated our bandwidth providers, and DDoS attacks became a much bigger deal. Nowadays, it does not make sense to have multiple upstreams and not use them all at the same time.
