Re: ipv6
This year has been packed, so the final testing and implementation has been delayed. But the plumbing is in place for VDSes at most locations.

						Re: ipv6
Naleksuh, the way that it is currently set up is that IPv6 is enabled on a per-VDS basis. I am not certain yet how that option will be exposed. An IPv4 IP address will also still be assigned to every service by default, and I expect that will continue to be the case for quite some time. Only specialized private setups right now can really be IPv6-only (one example might be a VDS that is used for backups).

Still in progress. 2020 was an eventful year from an operational standpoint.
It's frustrating, because 95% of the real work is done. I really want to push it out the door. But that last 5%, and testing, are important.

Re: ipv6
Any news on this?

						Re: ipv6
I am hoping to get to work on that last 5% later this month. Hoping. If you'd like to help beta-test it right at the beginning, shoot us an email and let the staff know to pass that along to me.

						Re: ipv6
Cool, beta testing. I haven't really seen any major changes since I joined here so it'll be interesting to try.
I already have 5 escalated requests open and don't need a 6th so I just reused an already existing one.

Re: ipv6
The request shouldn't be escalated to me in this case. The staff will just pass along the information.

"And if so do we have to purchase IPv6 addresses (or are they available for free)"
This already got answered through other means, the answer is: no, there is a set of /48 V6 addresses available for free (not only do you not have to purchase more, you literally can't due to the large amount of available already). I'd assume there's a reason other providers have the option to purchase them, but I personally prefer using IPv4 to begin with.
It will be more helpful to have a v6 address for stuff like web hosting. I personally will have a hard time testing it as my internet connection is IPv4-only but I can try doing stuff like pinging web servers.
Will IPv6 also be on the hosted-hosted35 machines, so IPv6 connections there can be accepted? Or will it remain IPv4 only.

Re: ipv6
IPv6 on the hosted website machines would come a bit later, yes. It shouldn't be hard to implement there, once everything else is in place.
